Description Technical Specs Installation

  1. When the Door Jamb Stop is to be applied on top of existing stops, it is recommended that locksets with a
3 3/4" backset be used rather than locksets with a 2 3/4" backset. This allows adequate space between the door knob and the Door Jamb Stop. However, it is preferred that you simply remove the existing door stop insead.
  2. When the Door Jamb Stop is shipped from the factory, the gasketing is screwed completely into the housing. All adjusting screws should be screwed so that the face of the neoprene projects out of the housing approximately 1/4". This will then allow for subsequent adjustment in either direction.
  3. The neoprene gasket should be longer than the aluminum retainer. As supplied from factory, 36" neoprene pieces are approximately 1/2" oversize and 96" neoprene pieces are approximately 1" oversize. This is the correct amount of extra gasket to squeeze toward the center of the strip during installation to produce a tight joint at mitered corners without the necessity of using an adhesive.
  4. When trimming the Door Jamb Stop to exact length for installation, make certain that an extra 1/2"or 1" of neoprene gasket extends beyond the opposite end before making the cut.
  5. The header strip is furnished with only one miter cut so that the exact dimension of the strip can be cut (mitered) at the job site.
  6. The operating retainer bar is normally captured in the housing, and it not necessary for it to be removed. To remove bar from the housing, it is necessary to first remove the two allen head screws that are in the back of the strip (screwed into the surface which is normally against the door jamb).
  7. Close the door and place hinge side assembly against the face of the door making gently contact over full height. Fasten in place.
  8. With the door still closed, place the lock side assembly against the face of the door making gentle contact over full width. Fasten in place.
  9. With the door still closed, place the head assembly against the face of the door making gentle contact over full width.
  10. Operate the door several times to ensure the gasketing material is properly adjusted so it does not inhibit the self closing and latching of the doors.
